Production and ecological properties of cork leather
To make cactus leather, the blades of prickly pear cacti are carefully grown and harvested. After harvesting, they are gently dried and processed into a fine powder. This powder serves as the basis for producing a special resin that is fixed to a textile. This complex process creates high-quality cactus leather, which not only impresses with its unique texture and aesthetics, but also stands out due to its sustainability and environmental friendliness.
The production of cactus leather not only contributes to the creation of an innovative and sustainable material, but also has a positive impact on biodiversity in the region. Through the targeted reforestation of native and typical organic cacti, the soil is enriched and promotes the development of microflora and microfauna. Another advantage is that the cacti do not require irrigation, resulting in significant water savings. In addition, no chemicals are used in the cultivation of organic cacti, which benefits both the environment and health.
As a natural product, cactus leather is obtained from renewable sources and is therefore an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional materials. In addition, it can be reused for numerous applications, which further underlines its sustainability.
Kaltus leather and sustainability
Cactus leather is a material that supports modern environmental protection as it grows and uses resources carefully. When harvesting the prickly pear cactus, the plant is not injured, which means it remains intact and the harvest can be made from the same plant. This contributes to the sustainability of cactus cultures.
Additionally, solar energy is used in the drying phase to produce cactus leather, resulting in significant energy savings and reducing environmental impact.
Another advantage is that there are no cross-industry conflicts in the production of cactus leather, as the material is created as a by-product of the food industry. This promotes the attractiveness and profitability of agriculture, which helps increase the cultivation of cacti. This not only protects the environment, but also strengthens the local economy.
Cactus leather care instructions
For care, we recommend using a mild cleaning agent. Please avoid solvents such as alcohol, acetone, paint thinner, bleach, oils and similar products as well as ink pens as these can be absorbed into the material. Spilled liquids such as beer, wine, juices, soft drinks, coffee, tea or chocolate should be cleaned as quickly as possible, especially if the liquid is heavily colored. Sauce stains should be treated immediately to prevent staining. Contact with suntan oils should be avoided; If this happens, clean the area immediately with liquid soap or shampoo.
If necessary, clean it with a soap solution and a white cotton cloth moistened with water. Light colors may require more frequent cleaning. Avoid vinegar, waxes, silicones, all-purpose cleaners, stove cleaners or similar cleaning products as they can cause permanent damage. Then dry the surface with a dry, white cotton cloth.
If accessories become discolored, remove the stain immediately with shampoo and a white cotton cloth, rinse the area with water and allow it to dry.
If there are slight creases during transport, they can easily be smoothed out by ironing from the back.
